The City of Sedona’s Parks and Recreation Department and Police Department, working in conjunction with local Uptown merchants, are once again preparing to host the annual Uptown Trick or Treat event. This popular community gathering is scheduled for Halloween, Saturday, October 31, 2026, from 5 to 8 p.m. in Uptown Sedona. The event aims to provide a safe and enjoyable community experience, inviting hundreds of families to participate in a traditional celebration that defines Sedona’s commitment to its year-round residents.
As part of the festivities, Uptown merchants participating in the event will extend their operating hours, keeping their shop doors open late into the evening. These businesses will be actively handing out candy to trick-or-treaters, with a portion of the treats generously supplied by the City’s Parks and Recreation Department. This collaborative effort ensures a widespread and engaging trick-or-treating experience across the commercial heart of Uptown.
Attendees can anticipate a range of entertainment options during the evening. The Sedona Dance Academy and the Sedona Dance Project are set to present a "Thriller" dance in a flash mob style. This lively performance will take place at the Sinagua Plaza, located at 320 State Route 89A, adding a dynamic cultural element to the Halloween celebration. In a unique offering, the Sedona Fire Department will host a Haunted Ambulance, providing a distinctive spooky attraction for visitors. This ambulance will be stationed near the Canyon Breeze shops at 300 State Route 89A, an area easily accessible and located close to the informational booths staffed by the Parks and Recreation Department and the Sedona Police Department.
A perennial community favorite, a costume contest will invite participation from both children and adults. To enter, individuals are encouraged to take a photo of their costume and upload it to social media, making sure to include the designated hashtag #SedonaHalloween. The costumes that accumulate the highest number of "likes" on social media will be recognized with gift card prizes, contributed by many of the supportive Uptown merchant businesses. This year's Uptown Trick or Treat event receives additional backing through a sponsorship, provided in part by Arizona Public Service, further supporting the community’s ability to host this major local event.
To help manage traffic and parking, particularly given the anticipated large turnout in a busy area known to residents, the public is strongly encouraged to utilize the city’s Sedona Shuttle Connect services. For those who choose to drive, free parking lots will be available throughout the Uptown business district, aiming to provide convenient access to the event.
